About the Role
Exciting Career Opportunity: Service Crew Operator – Join Our Underground Mining Team! Are you ready to play a vital role in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality mining services? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Service Crew Operator to contribute to the success of underground operations. In this role, you will be essential in establishing and maintaining underground services, ensuring safety standards are met while supporting the efficient progression of mining activities. What You Will Do:
- Extend ventilation services, including hanging ventilation bags and installing secondary fans to ensure optimal airflow.
- Extend and maintain water and air services throughout underground work areas.
- Install secondary fans, erect vent walls, and brattices to support safe working conditions.
- Manually install cable bolts and grout according to site specifications.
- Move and install pumps, line, leaky feeder, and firing lines as required.
- Repair services and equipment such as vent bags, poly pipes, and valves within your capabilities.
- Conduct face and back inspections and scale from heights as per site requirements.
- Assist with operations involving off-siding operators and other underground tasks.
- Carry out workplace inspections and prepare areas for drilling, charging, or scraping following safety procedures.
- Liaise with underground shift supervisors to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently, reporting equipment issues and status updates.
- Work collaboratively with trades and non-trades personnel around the underground mine.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of underground stores, IT baskets, and equipment, ensuring a safe and tidy workspace.
- Properly wash and maintain equipment and tools after each shift to a high standard.
Required Skills
- Minimum of one year of experience in the underground mining industry.
- Proven experience working in underground Service Crew, Paste Crew, or Projects Crew.
- Strong understanding of underground infrastructure and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and a safety-conscious attitude.
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with installation of vent walls, brattices, and secondary fans.
- Knowledge of equipment repair and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with mining safety standards and procedures.
- Additional certification in underground mining operations.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Relevant underground mining experience is essential.
- Formal qualifications or certifications related to underground service operations are highly advantageous.
- Valid Manual Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Working at Heights ticket.
- Current and valid National Police Clearance (within last 6 months).
- Right to work in Australia.
