Overview
Company Description: Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of the development mining activities and resources to maintain a safe and productive panel in accordance with the annual mining plan.
The role will be varied and rewarding and will involve the following:
- Be responsible for the management and delivery of all aspects associated with the Development operations at the mine.
- Build, lead and develop the development operations crews to deliver the annual plan with optimal performance.
- Lead a systematic approach in the identification and delivery of sustainable operations sequence plans processes and methods.
- Drive the implementation and provide leadership of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with the Maintenance and Engineering teams on improvements during overhauls of the development equipment to ensure availability and reliability is in line with the business KPI requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all people, safety, technical, operating and business systems, behaviours, and culture at Aquila Mine.
Your proactive approach demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to Zero Harm will be key to your success in the role.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in Development roles in underground coal mining.
- 3rd or 2nd Class Certificate of Competence (Undermanager’s or Deputy Ticket) will be highly regarded.
- Experience in a similar role and Supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, S3 and G2).
- First Aid and CPR.
- Demonstrated ability leading a team and driving performance.
- Well-developed understanding of both operations as well as maintenance and work management requirements along with your demonstrated ability to problem solve and motivate a team to perform.
