Northern Star Resources currently has an opportunity for a Health and Safety Superintendent to join the team at Carosue Dam Operations, working an ongoing 8/6 roster, on a permanent & full-time basis. Reporting to the Health, Safety, Emergency & Community Manager, this opportunity will suit a professional seeking to drive site safety performance and lead a proactive safety culture, overseeing risk management, incident investigations, WHS compliance, training delivery, and contractor engagement, while providing frontline leadership to the HSE team across mining operations.
- Maintain and improve risk management systems, including critical risk management.
- Continuously improve the development of the Mine Safety Management System in line with WA legislation, Northern Star standards and the STARR core values.
- Conduct internal and contractor audits to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead and coach diverse teams though change to achieve high-value and sustainable results
- Provide expert safety advice, reporting, and support for injury management and training programs.
- Engage collaboratively with multiple departments, the SLT and HSEC team members to build a strong, proactive and resilient safety culture.
- Liaise with site Emergency Services to maintain adequate emergency response and the site medical staff to maintain occupational medical and first aid systems and equipment.
To thrive in this role, you will need.
Experience**:** Minimum 7-years senior OHS experience in mining, preferably open pit, processing or underground, with strong emergency management capability and proven ability to interpret state and federal legislation.
Qualifications: Health & Safety qualification (BSc HSE or similar) with Emergency Response credentials (Cert III ERT, Cert IV Emergency Management), proficiency in INX systems (InControl, InFlight, +Process, InTuition), Statutory Supervisor/SSE certifications, Lead Auditor, Cert IV Training & Assessment, and business improvement skills, budgeting and forecasting experience would be advantageous.
