We are seeking an experienced and driven Superintendent Hydrogeology – Drilling to provide strategic leadership across onsite hydrogeology teams and service providers. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of waterwell drilling and testing programs across multiple operations.
You will play a key leadership role in shaping hydrogeological strategy, managing contractor performance, and ensuring alignment with mine planning and dewatering requirements.
As a strong technical leader, you bring a proven track record in hydrogeology and dewatering within mining environments. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on operational experience, enabling you to effectively lead teams, optimise performance, and deliver results in complex, multi-project settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and provide strategic direction to onsite hydrogeology teams across multiple projects in the Pilbara
- Mentor and support the Senior Hydrogeology leadership group
- Provide technical input into 6-month drilling and test pumping schedules aligned with mine plans
- Oversee drilling and test pumping activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution
- Manage budgets including headcount, rig utilisation, and resourcing
- Ensure strong contract management practices, including monthly reporting and incident investigations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimise water management outcomes
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or Earth Sciences (BSc or higher)
- Postgraduate qualification in Hydrogeology (if undergraduate is not hydrogeology)
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in hydrogeology, dewatering, and water bore drilling
- At least 3 years’ experience in open pit mining environments
- Experience with hydrogeological software (e.g. Envirosys), modelling, and GIS
- Strong contract management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and budgets
