Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success.

Come and be a part of this success.

About the Role

As a Specialist Operational Readiness, you will play a critical role in preparing the asset for safe, reliable, and sustainable operations. You will support the end‑to‑end transition of projects into the operational environment by developing readiness plans, leading operational change management, managing risk, integrating deliverables, and ensuring compliance with BHP’s standards, commitments, and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities Aligned to Core Accountabilities

  • Develop operational readiness and operational change management plans, schedules, and deliverables to ensure the asset is fully prepared for operations. This includes assessing systems and procedures for compliance with BHP standards and defining training, change impact actions, handover, and acceptance requirements.
  • Lead operational change management activities, including change impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, communication, training, and adoption of strategies to ensure new processes, systems, or behaviours are embedded prior to go‑live.
  • Integrate project deliverables across multiple workstreams, collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless transition through project phases  into steady‑state operations.
  • Identify and assess risks using BHP’s risk management framework, making risk‑informed decisions that enhance safety, productivity, operational outcomes, and change adoption while fostering a strong risk‑aware culture.
  • Plan, track, and manage operational readiness and change management tasks to generate value, ensuring that readiness and change activities support the achievement of defined project objectives.
  • Apply a strong understanding of BHP’s operating model, business context, and value chain to improve decision-making, optimise productivity, and enhance operational and change management performance.
  • Engage and leverage capabilities across the organisation, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams—including Operations, Projects, HSE, Technology, and HR—to drive readiness and change outcomes.
  • Champion BHP’s commitment to 100% safety, 100% customer value, and 0% waste, embedding these principles into all readiness and change management activities and decisions.
  • Maintain a strong customer and end‑user focus, developing solutions, readiness plans, and change strategies that meet operational needs and enable efficient, reliable performance from day one.

About You

  • Experience in operational readiness, operational change management, project management, or technology deployment within complex industrial or mining environments.
  • Strong ability to lead change, coordinate across disciplines, and influence stakeholders to support readiness and adoption outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical and organisational change details into clear, actionable information.
  • Demonstrated capability in planning, scheduling, and managing readiness and change deliverables for low to medium complexity projects.
  • Understanding of risk management frameworks and the ability to apply them to operational, safety, behavioural, and sustainability contexts.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Relevant project management or change management certification (e.g., PMBOK, PROSCI) is desirable but not essential.
