Company Description:Dawson Mine Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia. Job Description:A rare opportunity exists for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join the team at our Dawson Mine, based in Moura, QLD. As a key member of the Maintenance & Engineering department, you will provide technical support to ensure the reliability and availability of mobile equipment assets to deliver long-term asset improvements across the operation.Some of your key responsibilities are, not limited to:Provide safe, efficient and reliable mechanical engineering services to the Maintenance & Engineering department to assist in achieving agreed maintenance plans and targets.Provide reliability support, combined with relationship management and project management skills to develop and sustain a reliability centered culture.Continually review and update mobile maintenance strategies in line with business processes.Facilitate and manage regular department budget reviews and submissions.Facilitate and manage defect elimination processes to ensure that asset maintainability is engineered and implemented to optimise reliability and availability together while decreasing maintenance costs.Audit site compliance with ACA standards and report on variations.Understand the causes of failures and poor performance in critical equipment and systems.Work closely with people involved in the operation and maintenance of critical equipment and systems to develop recommendations that lead to decreases in the number of failures and the repair costs.Contribute technical advice and theories to aid the development and implementation of the site strategy and annual maintenance plan.Manage and/or participate in the implementation of solutions and measure the corresponding improvements in performance.Maintain up to date industry and reliability knowledge.Support the Maintenance & Engineering Department to implement ACA reliability systems and comply with guidelines to ensure quality and minimum legislative standards are met.Adhere to all safety protocols on-site and ensure your work is carried out and compliant within Dawson’s health and safety standards.Other duties as assigned by your Manager. Qualifications:To be successful in this role, you will hold either, a tertiary degree in Engineering (or a related discipline), as well as demonstrated Reliability experience.Mechanical/Electrical/Reliability Engineering or trade experience (preferably Coal).Demonstrated experience contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against set targets.Ability to understand functionality of business systems and provide relevant data for business purposes.In depth knowledge of Maintenance systems.An understanding of the coal mining process.Knowledge of relevant mining legislation.A high level of planning and problem-solving ability.An understanding of key safety risks and ways to mitigate these.
