About the Role

Thiess currently has an opportunity for a Senior Mining Estimator to join the Estimating team in our Australia New Work team. This role is based at the Thiess Perth Office and reports to the Principal Estimator.

As our next Senior Mining Estimator, you will act as a conduit for existing and new customers and provide timely, accurate and innovative estimating services that deliver the blueprint for operational and financial success.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with Regional General Managers and Project Development Managers to ensure the estimating strategy aligns with our clients’ requirements. In the role, the Senior Mining Estimator will work alongside Mine Planning Engineers to ensure the mine plan is optimised for the recommended installed capacity.

Moreover, the role will also support Asset Estimators to value and optimise fleet selection requirements and cost inputs. The role will analyse actual fixed and variable costs for use in tendering pricing and apply market benchmarks to guide tender pricing. The successful candidate will analyse site production performance to determine parameters for use within budgets and tenders.

The goal of the Senior Mining Estimator is to develop accurate tenders that are practically oriented with due consideration to the scope of works.

About You / Requirements

• You will be a dependable point of enquiry have relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Accounting or Surveying and previous experience working in large-scale open cut or underground mining operations.
• You have a high-level of proficiency to support application of computer-based estimating systems.
• Your experience Furthermore, you will possess strong commercial acumen with prior experience in mining services contacts or long-term project planning roles.
• You understand best practice mining principles, design concepts and operations and are proficient in Microsoft Office software particularly Excel.
• You will be a highly capable, trustworthy and adaptable individual with knowledge of mine operation regulatory and legislative requirements and personal alignment with Thiess’ values and vision.
