Mining Engineer Anglo American Steelmaking Coal Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Job Description:As our underground longwall Mining Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the success in one of the most high-performance mining underground operations in Bowen Basin. You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering expert technical advice that supports strategic decision-making and optimises mine scheduling and performance. Your insights will help ensure our operations run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with our business goals.You’ll work closely with the Technical Service Superintendent to resolve technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Collaboration with mine staff and project teams will be essential to ensure well-structured plans are in place to meet operational and business objectives.Deliver best practice mining engineering services and support to the mine, supporting Zero Harm by ensuring compliance with all safety systems and legislation.Ensure the quality of Technical Services Mining delivered are fit-for-purpose and can bridge the gap between theoretical/design and practicality in the workplace.Work across the strata control and ventilation spaces to ensure safe and compliant underground mining conditions.Contribute to the development and implementation of systems that support effective airflow and strata monitoring.Enhance the value of the resources by applying relevant technology. This involves collaborating with relevant stakeholders to develop a strategy for its implementation and ongoing maintenance.Plan and coordinate mine planning and production review meeting engaging all relevant site stakeholdersSupport production goals by maintaining high standards in underground environmental controls.
