About the Role

Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Operational Readiness Principal to support the successful deployment and integration of decarbonisation initiatives across our operations.

Reporting to the Group Manager – Energy Operations, this role plays a critical part in ensuring new technologies, assets and operational processes are effectively integrated into site operations through strong planning, stakeholder engagement and operational readiness frameworks.

You will work closely with operational teams, projects, asset management and decarbonisation stakeholders to coordinate deployment readiness, manage operational risks and support smooth asset handover into operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong mining operational experience who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about enabling the transition to zero-emission operations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead development and execution of Site Deployment Plans supporting decarbonisation initiatives
  • Coordinate operational readiness activities including workforce planning, training, scheduling and infrastructure interfaces
  • Identify operational risks, integration challenges and program clashes, escalating where required
  • Monitor and report progress against project schedules and operational readiness deliverables
  • Support development and rollout of operational readiness frameworks and RASCI models
  • Establish and maintain master connection registers for new assets and site integrations
  • Support asset acceptance, handover and operational sign-off processes
  • Monitor deployed asset performance and identify gaps, deficiencies and remediation requirements
  • Lead operational change activities to support adoption of new technologies and work practices
  • Support OPEX forecasting, workforce planning and business case development for new assets
  • Develop communication strategies and support site engagement activities including toolbox talks and presentations
  • Collaborate across sites to share learnings and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Experience


  • Strong operational experience within mining operations across trade, technical or leadership pathways
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects, operational readiness or improvement initiatives
  • Sound planning and scheduling capability
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage operational constraints
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills across multiple organisational levels
  • Experience supporting operational change, workforce readiness and asset integration activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively across operations, projects and technical teams
  • Exposure to asset management systems, reporting or condition monitoring platforms highly regarded
