Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

About the Role

We are seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Technical Services team at Newmont Cadia, one of Australia’s premier large-scale underground mining operations. This is a site-based role where you will play a critical part in translating medium-term plans into clear, weekly tactical execution plans that enable the operation to safely and reliably achieve its production targets.

Reporting to the Supervisor Mine Planning, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating weekly and rolling monthly execution plans for operational caves, working closely with planning, operations, and technical stakeholders. You will balance real-time operational inputs with medium-term plans, ensure cave draw compliance, manage production planning systems, and support shutdown planning—while maintaining a strong focus on safety and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver weekly tactical execution plans aligned to the quarterly forecast
• Facilitate and host weekly planning and RMP input meetings
• Integrate bottom-up operational inputs with medium-term planning assumptions
• Provide clear guidance and prioritisation to operational execution teams
• Monitor cave draw compliance and complete end-of-month reporting
• Participate actively in field safety verifications and hazard rectification
• Support shutdown planning activities for operational teams
• Present and roll out approved weekly production plans
• Manage and maintain production dispatch and data systems

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and analytical Mining Engineer who enjoys working at the interface between planning and operations.

Essential qualifications and experience

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mining or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience as a Mining Engineer
• Experience in large-scale underground mining operations
• Working knowledge of production planning processes and mining sequencing
