Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
The Project Services Manager is responsible for leading and integrating all project services functions across Fortescue’s major projects portfolio. This includes planning, cost control, estimating and project reporting.
The role ensures robust governance, accurate forecasting, and disciplined project controls to enable successful delivery of large-scale mining, energy, and infrastructure projects aligned with Fortescue’s growth and decarbonisation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of project controls frameworks, systems, and standards across major projects, ensuring alignment with Fortescue governance
- Oversee planning, scheduling, cost control, and progress measurement functions to support effective project delivery
- Establish and maintain integrated master schedules (IMS), including critical path analysis, scenario planning, and schedule optimisation
- Monitor schedule performance and drive mitigation strategies to address delays and delivery risks
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and workforce planning, ensuring accurate reporting and estimate-to-complete (ETC) outcomes
- Lead risk and opportunity management processes, integrating outcomes into cost and schedule forecasts
- Deliver high-quality reporting, KPIs, and dashboards to provide insights and support executive decision-making
- Support contract and commercial activities, including strategy development, claims, variations, and contractor performance alignment
- Drive implementation and optimisation of project systems (e.g. Primavera P6, SAP, Power BI), ensuring data integrity and standardisation
- Lead, mentor, and develop project services teams while engaging stakeholders across engineering, construction, finance, and operations to promote transparency and accountability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related discipline
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, AIPM) desirable
- 10–15+ years’ experience in project services within major capital projects (mining, oil & gas, energy, or infrastructure) · Demonstrated experience leading project controls on multi-billion-dollar projects ·
- Strong background in EPC/EPCM delivery environments · Strong leadership and team development capability ·
- Strong demonstrated leadership negotiation, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent project teams.
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements communicating a range of engineering and commercial concepts to a range of expertise
- Strong data and systems management and understanding, excellent experience in developing, implementing and managing regional and global systems to meet the highest standards of data integrity and utilisation
- Experience with SAP, Power BI, and integrated reporting systems.
