Senior Mining Engineer

About the Role

Step into a career defining opportunity as a Senior Mining Engineer - Studies at Northparkes. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead underground mining studies from concept → PFS → feasibility, shaping the future of one of Australia’s most technically advanced block cave operations.

As part of a high performing multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with geology, geotechnical, ventilation, and technical specialists to evaluate new ore bodies, develop mine designs, schedule scenarios, and prepare technical and financial outputs that directly inform long term investment decisions. You’ll guide study work programs, coordinate internal specialists and contractors, and deliver high quality technical reports that support the ongoing expansion of the operation, including growth from 7.4 Mtpa to 11 Mtpa and toward 15 Mtpa.

You’ll join a team that includes industry leading block caving experts and specialists, giving you rare exposure to world class underground mining studies, advanced planning methodologies, and significant project complexity. This role offers the chance to build deep technical capability while contributing to major long‑life asset development.

About You

You’re an experienced mining engineer with a passion for underground studies and a proven ability to think strategically, technically and commercially. You enjoy tackling complex ore bodies, working within multidisciplinary teams, and producing high quality study outputs that influence long term mine development.

You’ll bring:

• A Mining Engineering qualification and 7+ years’ experience in the mining industry.
• Block caving experience (hard‑rock) - this is essential.
• Experience leading and contributing to mining studies (conceptual, PFS, feasibility).
• Strong capability in mine design, scheduling, and technical evaluations, ideally using 3D mine planning software such as Deswik.
• Excellent communication, analytical and report writing skills, with confidence presenting technical outcomes to senior stakeholders.
• A collaborative style that thrives within highly skilled technical teams - working alongside geotechnical PhD specialists, underground study leads and open pit study experts.
• A proactive, organised and safety focused mindset aligned with Evolution’s values.
• NSW manual driver’s licence (required).
