About the role
The Asset Management team is currently seeking a Manager Asset Management - Rail & Engineering to join them on a Monday to Friday roster based in Perth, with regular site travel. Reporting to the Head of Asset Management, you will provide technical leadership while driving asset strategy, reliability improvement, and lifecycle optimisation across the rail network and associated infrastructure. The role also provides engineering governance across the business through the Engineering Excellence Group (EEG), which sits within the portfolio.
This position is responsible for a team of five Superintendents. Three of these leaders and their teams form a centralised engineering group (EEG) in Perth (Electrical, Mechanical and Civil/Infrastructure), providing technical authority across their respective disciplines to ensure governance, assurance and frameworks are applied consistently across the business. The other two Superintendents lead our Rail Asset Management teams (Reliability Engineering and Maintenance Planning), who focus on ensuring rail assets and supporting engineering systems are managed safely, reliably and cost‑effectively to support operational performance.
Duties
- Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for engineering governance, asset strategy, maintenance planning and reliability improvement
- Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and knowledge-sharing across your asset management teams
- Maintain ownership and governance of engineering standards and technical documentation
- Lead the development and optimisation of the centralised Engineering and Rail Asset Management strategies aligned with operational and business objectives
- Foster relationships with vendors to drive improvement of equipment performance
- Facilitate collaboration between your Asset Management disciplines and operational teams to ensure practical and sustainable engineering solutions
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or similar)
- Extensive experience in managing multi-disciplinary Asset Management teams (Engineering, Maintenance, Execution) within Mining, Infrastructure or heavy industry
- Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering assets and infrastructure
- Experience developing asset strategies, maintenance frameworks and reliability improvement programs
