The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC) is a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. NAC is based 35km north-west of Toowoomba.

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Finance Business Partner to join our Commercial department on a permanent full-time basis. Working Monday to Friday and reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Finance Business Partner will partner with various departments, delivering financial reporting and cost analysis to drive operational performance and strategy.

What you will do:

• Lead the site accounting function, including its people, systems and service delivery
• Provide effective finance business partnering support to operational stakeholders to enable informed decision-making
• Prepare periodic management accounts, reports and analysis
• Ensure timely and accurate provision of information for site financial statements and New Hope Group reporting
• Develop and maintain systems and processes to ensure accurate data is captured for analysis and reporting
• Manage the forecasting and budgeting process, including analysis and reporting
• Support the site expenditure board and cost management initiatives

To be considered for this opportunity you will bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business
• CPA/CA or similar accreditation preferred, not essential
• Accounting experience in heavy industry sectors will be highly regarded
• Significant experience with budgeting and forecasting, including financial analysis and performance reporting
• Strong understanding of accounting processes and systems, as well as using technology to improve efficiency and controls
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial results and identify trends
• Strong interpersonal skills with a positive, solution-focused approach
• Ability to lead strategic conversations and positively influence decision-making
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
