About the role

As a Trainee Train Examiner, you’ll contribute to the safe and efficient operation of a major rail network. Under supervision and through hands-on training, you will learn to:

• Replace brake shoes
• Conduct minor train maintenance activities
• Perform safe working tasks
• Assist with shunting activities
• Complete operational checks and reporting
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
• Work safely at all times, following workplace standards and procedures

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong risk perception and commitment to safety
• Good communication and situational awareness
• A technical or mechanical mindset
• Willingness to learn and take on new skills
• Reliability, resilience and a positive attitude
• Fitness and health suitable for rotating shift work

Mandatory requirements

• Residential to Dampier (no accommodation provided)
• Minimum C Class Drivers Licence
• Ability to obtain a Category 1 Rail Medical (arranged if successful)
• Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
• Technically minded and physically capable
• Able to commit to rotating shifts and outdoor work
