Trade Assistant / Workshop Assistant

Our client operates across a range of industrial and infrastructure environments, supporting day-to-day operations through the maintenance and servicing of specialised vehicles and equipment. Due to business growth, they are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Trade Assistant / Workshop Assistant to join their team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work and wants to build their skills within a busy workshop environment supporting a varied fleet!

Malaga Location | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity $38.44 – $41.00/hr + super + penalties | Depending on experience Monday to Friday | 6:00am – 2:30pm + additional OT Training & Upskilling | PPE Supplied | Onsite Parking

What Will You Be Doing?

• Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you’ll assist across a range of hands-on workshop duties to help keep the fleet safe, reliable and ready for operation. Your duties will include:
• Assisting with basic welding, metal fabrication and minor component repairs
• Using workshop tools, machinery and equipment safely and correctly
• Operating the forklift to move parts, stock and equipment around the workshop
• Assisting with repairs and preventative maintenance for equipment including vacuum trucks, jetter trucks, sweepers, prime movers and tippers
• Assisting with stock counts, parts organisation and general workshop upkeep
• Keeping the workshop clean, organised and ready for day-to-day operations
• Helping the Workshop Manager with other duties as required

What Do You Need To Be Successful?

• Previous experience in a mechanical workshop, on-site Trade Assistant or similar hands-on role
• Reliable, punctual and safety-focused, with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
• Current Driver’s Licence and reliable transport (manual preferred)
• Construction White Card, or willingness to obtain one
• Forklift licence highly regarded
• Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol assessment
• Full working rights
