About the Role

Our client, a major Defence and Maritime Industry provider are seeking a Systems Engineering Lead to drive the development, integration and delivery of systems across a complex project environment. This role suits someone who enjoys leading technical teams, shaping engineering frameworks and ensuring high‑quality outcomes across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Systems Engineering artefacts to required standards and timeframes.
• Lead formal Systems Reviews in line with program review requirements.
• Drive system acceptance through delivery of a complete digital product.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to the Systems Engineering team.
• Act as a primary technical contact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify engineering risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Manage engineering changes to maintain design integrity.
• Support continuous improvement across engineering processes.
• Contribute to broader program engineering objectives.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or a similar technical field.
• Background in complex project environments, including change management and process improvement.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility to obtain.
• Ability to obtain and Maintain Baseline Security Clearance through AGSVA

Desirable

• Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, requirements management and configuration management.
• Familiarity with PLM environments and capability‑delivery documentation.
• Membership with SESA, INCOSE
