29Metals is an ASX-listed mining company producing copper and other base and precious metals critical to the global energy transition. Headquartered in Melbourne, we also have support offices in Perth and Brisbane.

We operate two long-life assets: Golden Grove in Western Australia and Capricorn Copper in Queensland, along with a portfolio of exploration interests, including a strategic tenement package and project in Redhill, Chile.

Capricorn Copper is a high-grade underground mining operation producing copper and silver. Following an extreme weather event, operations were suspended; however, significant investment is underway to support recovery and expansion. A Restart Study team has also been formed to progress the mine’s journey towards a safe restart of operations.

The Queensland Government has declared the Capricorn Copper Recovery and Extension Project a prescribed and critical infrastructure project, reinforcing its support for the mine’s full return to operation.

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Exploration Geologist to join our Capricorn Copper operation near Mount Isa in Queensland. This site-based role forms part of our Geology team, reports to the General Manager Operations, and operates on an 8:6 roster.

Your focus will be on leading and coordinating the Capricorn Copper exploration program to support the discovery and definition of mineral resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading the exploration program across Capricorn Copper tenure to drive the discovery and definition of mineral resources.

• Generating and maintaining 3D geological models to identify, refine, and prioritise prospective drill targets.

• Planning and supervising underground and surface drilling programs to test and extend mineral resources.

• Supporting exploration project generation and execution across brownfields, near-mine, and regional opportunities.

• Monitoring exploration budgets, contractor performance, and geological data integrity while promoting continuous improvement and strong HSEC practices.

• Mentoring and developing Exploration Geologists and contractors to ensure safe, high-quality geological work and program delivery.

About You / Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have a strong geological background within the mining industry, including solid exploration expertise and knowledge of sediment-hosted copper/VHMS, base metal, and gold systems.

• Tertiary qualification in geology or a related discipline.

• Familiarity with directional drilling techniques, including wedging, navi cuts, and barrel configuration drillhole manipulation.

• Experience in database administration and QA/QC.

• Proficiency in mining software such as Micromine, Leapfrog, QGIS/MapInfo, Vulcan, and Geobank.

• Current C-class manual driver’s licence.

• Competency in 4WD driving, including operating in remote and off-road environments.
