Principal Piping Designer

Our client is a well-established engineering consultancy servicing the mining and resources sector. Due to continued business growth, we have partnered with them to recruit a Principal Piping Designer to join their team. With a strong track record in engineering design, project execution, and optimisation, they deliver specialist solutions across mineral processing, materials handling, and industrial infrastructure projects throughout Australia and internationally, offering highly competitive rates (negotiable based on experience).

**About the Role:**Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this position will be responsible for overseeing and delivering 3D drafting and design work across a range of piping-related projects. This includes piping layout, specification, and design services to support project requirements from concept through to construction.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and produce accurate 3D piping designs, layouts and drawings in line with project standards and specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to share information, resolve design issues and maintain alignment across project deliverables.
• Review and process vendor drawings, documentation and technical data to ensure compliance and suitability for the project.
• Assist with checking and verifying project and study drawings, as well as contributing to estimates when required.
• Follow engineering and HSES procedures, actively promoting a strong commitment to safety and quality in all design activities.

About you:
To be successful in this position, you will have:

• Advanced Diploma of Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum of five years piping design experience or equivalent relevant experience (mining project experience being essential).
• Strong experience with Bentley OpenPlant Modeler software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Microstation.
• Good attitude and willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Ability to juggle hands on designing along with training/mentoring others (this is not a sole checking position).
