We are working with a Tier 1 mining company and are seeking a Metallurgist.

Roster: 8/6 FIFO from Perth

Start: ASAP start

Length: 3 months with potential to extend for the right person

Hourly rate: $75.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:

We are partnering with a major Australian mining operator to recruit an experienced Metallurgist for a key laboratory-based role supporting large-scale iron ore operations.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing technical team in a non-production, laboratory environment, offering strong work-life balance and exposure to advanced metallurgical programs.

Based in Newman on an 8:6 roster, this role will see you take ownership of metallurgical test work programs and contribute to continuous improvement across processing performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing, managing, and executing metallurgical test work programs
• Analysing complex datasets and identifying trends, issues, and opportunities
• Investigating anomalies and providing practical solutions
• Delivering accurate, high-quality technical reports within required timeframes
• Supporting and mentoring laboratory personnel
• Contributing to innovation and process improvement initiatives
• Collaborating with stakeholders across operations and technical teams

Experience:

• Minimum 3+ years' experience as a Metallurgist or Process Engineer
• Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• A proactive, team-oriented approach

Highly regarded:

• Experience in iron ore processing
• Exposure to oxide flotation and/or magnetic separation
• Experience with Python scripting or data analysis tools
