Manager - Sustainability

About the Role

As Manager Sustainability at Ernest Henry, you will provide Senior Leadership across Health, Safety, Environment, Training and Community Relations. This critical role ensures the development, implementation and continual improvement of effective HSE and sustainability systems that meet legislative requirements and support safe, responsible operations. You will work closely with site and corporate leadership and build strong relationships with regulators and community stakeholders to protect and enhance the organisation’s social licence to operate.

Your work will involve:

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary Sustainability team across Safety, Environment, Training, Community Relations and Emergency Response
• Drive a strong Safety and Environmental culture through effective leadership, coaching and succession planning
• Oversee Health, Safety, Environmental and Training Management Systems to ensure statutory and operational compliance
• Manage risk, incident investigation, injury management and rehabilitation processes
• Develop and deliver site safety, health, environmental and social responsibility strategies, plans and budgets
• Build strong relationships with regulators, community leaders and key stakeholders
• Provide expert advice to the General Manager and support long‑term strategic planning
• Stay abreast of legislative changes and ensure ongoing compliance with QLD Mining and Environmental regulations

About You

You are an experienced Senior Leader with a strong background in Health, Safety and Environmental Management within a medium to large organisation. You bring a tertiary qualification in Health, Safety or Environmental Management, or significant relevant experience across these disciplines, along with an in‑depth understanding of Queensland Mining Legislation and how to apply it to Health, Safety, Environmental Risk Management. You have a proven ability to lead, inspire and develop high‑performing teams, supported by strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking. You are highly collaborative and an effective communicator, you build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and lead by example. Your values‑driven leadership style aligns with Safety, Excellence, Accountability and Respect, and you are motivated to drive continuous improvement, innovation and positive cultural change.
