Job Description
About BHP Chile
At BHP Chile, our corporate office in Santiago is the strategic heart of our operations in the country. From here, we lead projects that drive responsible mining and innovation, connecting local impact with BHP’s global vision. We are part of a company dedicated to natural resources, present in more than 90 locations worldwide, committed to creating a more sustainable future.
Why BHP Chile?
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to grow in an organization that values diversity, fosters professional development, and invests in technologies that transform the mining industry. At BHP Chile, you can make a real impact on the community and the environment while building your career in a company recognized for its inclusive culture and commitment to the future.
The Challenge Ahead
As the Planning Manager for Project Controls & Analysis, you will lead the planning and scheduling function for a complex, multi-asset capital portfolio. Your mission is to ensure every project is delivered with schedule certainty, strong integrated planning discipline, and clear performance insights. You will steward the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) as the single source of truth, aligning EPCM, ESP, and internal stakeholders to common planning standards.
In this role, you will translate strategy into operational delivery for your team—driving proactive risk management, scenario planning, and critical-path stewardship. Your work will safeguard value, reinforce compliance with regulatory commitments, and elevate execution readiness across the full portfolio.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead portfolio-level benchmarking and prioritization methodologies to identify key investment drivers.
* Define project objectives and schedules, identify critical activities, and oversee continuous improvement across planning processes.
* Monitor and manage project performance to deliver safe, on-time, on-budget results aligned with scope.
* Develop, forecast, and benchmark project costs and estimates in accordance with industry standards.
* Create contractor performance strategies to maximize portfolio value and strengthen innovation.
* Prioritize team workload and resource allocation to meet strategic and operational needs.
* Deliver compelling presentations and facilitate workshops using storytelling to connect and influence diverse stakeholders.
* Apply and evaluate change management methodologies and integrate insights into planning approaches.
* Use strong business acumen to support decision-making, productivity, and value-chain performance.
* Build cross-organizational engagement and foster a customer-centric mindset that strives for 100% safety, 100% customer value, and 0% waste.
What We Expect From You
* 10–15+ years of experience in project controls and scheduling, ideally as Lead Planning Manager on large EPC/EPCM mining or process projects.
* Expertise in Primavera P6, EVMS, and SAP WBS integration.
* Experience with Tier 1 EPCM governance; Chilean permitting schedule exposure is a plus.
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical) or related discipline.
* Bilingual Spanish/English; availability to travel to site as required.
* Desirable: Postgraduate studies in Construction or Project Management; advanced P6 certification; AACE PSP/CCP or PMI-SP/PMP.
* Strong capabilities in schedule risk analysis, scenario planning, and schedule-cost integration.
* High influence and negotiation skills to challenge assumptions, guide decision-making, and align complex stakeholder groups.
* Ability to operate with broad autonomy, set planning standards, and approve EPCM schedule baselines.
* Proven leadership in coaching and developing planners, fostering high performance and continuous improvement.
