The Checkers processing plant at Mt Magnet is currently undergoing an A$223M expansion and upgrade to an initial 4.3Mtpa capacity, with construction expected to be completed in the September 2027 quarter. The final plant configuration will be comprised of two separate crushing and grinding trains, enabling optimised recovery of ore from multiple ore sources.

The Role

Reporting to the Processing Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent (Mechanical) leads the safe and efficient maintenance of the Mt Magnet processing plant through a significant period of growth. Working collaboratively with the Maintenance Superintendent (Electrical), you will drive asset reliability, plant performance and continuous improvement while leading a team of Mechanical Fitters, Electricians and Boilermakers.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient execution of planned and breakdown maintenance.
• Lead and develop maintenance supervisors, planners and trades teams.
• Drive plant reliability, availability and asset performance.
• Lead shutdown planning and execution to minimise downtime.
• Deliver major maintenance and plant improvement projects.
• Manage maintenance budgets, forecasts and costs.
• Champion continuous improvement and risk reduction initiatives.
• Maintain effective planning, scheduling and work management processes.
• Develop team capability through coaching and mentoring.
• Build strong relationships across site departments.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and company standards.
• Provide reporting and insights to support operational decisions.

About You

You are an experienced maintenance leader with a strong background in fixed plant maintenance within gold processing or similar mineral processing operations. You combine technical expertise with strong leadership capability and are passionate about building high-performing teams, improving reliability and delivering safe operational outcomes.

You will bring

• Relevant mechanical trade qualification or engineering qualification.
• Extensive experience in fixed plant maintenance within mining or mineral processing.
• Significant experience in gold processing plant maintenance.
• Proven success in a Maintenance Superintendent or senior maintenance leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of asset management, reliability improvement and maintenance optimisation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary maintenance teams in a production environment.
• Demonstrated capability managing maintenance budgets, forecasting and cost control.
• Experience with maintenance planning and management systems, preferably Pronto.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to analyse maintenance data and translate insights into improved business performance.
• Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and operational excellence.
• Statutory Supervisor (Section 26) qualification is essential.
