Your impactReporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Lead (12-month contract) plays a critical role in supporting operational performance through high-quality financial planning, reporting and insight.

You will partner closely with site and processing teams to drive budgeting and forecasting, deliver clear financial analysis, and support informed decision-making across the operation.

As part of our team you will

  • Provide strategic finance business partnering to Operational Departments at the Lihir site, driving business planning, forecasting, performance reporting, governance, business improvement, and capital management
  • Prepare site end ‑of ‑month close and performance reviews, translating monthly results into clear insights on production, cost, and capital performance, and challenging variances to plan and benchmarks
  • Produce and communicate weekly production performance reporting, highlighting trends, variances, and emerging risks to support proactive operational decision ‑making
  • Drive cost discipline, productivity, and performance across site operations through driver ‑based analysis, leadership of cost and capital review forums, and proactive pursuit of cost reduction and value optimisation opportunities.
  • Partner with site operations and cross ‑functional teams to improve business value, confidently presenting insights, options, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Site Leadership Team, fostering an open and collaborative environment to identify risks, shape mitigation strategies, and improve business outcomes
  • Guide and develop Finance Analysts, strengthening capability, accountability, and effective business partnering across the site
  • Coordinate internal control (SOx) sign-offs across monthly, quarterly and annual cycles

Prerequisites for your success in the role

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting (CA/CPA preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial/accounting roles, ideally within mining or site-based environments
  • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial analysis
  • Advanced skills in Excel and financial systems (SAP experience highly regarded)
  • Experience with planning and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, BPC, TM1, Xeras)
  • Strong analytical capability with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring and guiding team members
