About the role
Reporting to the Supervisor – Development, the UG Jumbo Offsider supports development drilling activities by assisting the Jumbo Operator with all tasks required to safely and efficiently complete development mining cycles. You will play a hands‑on role in ground support installation, equipment preparation, workplace housekeeping and ensuring development headings are ready for safe drilling and blasting.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Offsiding the Development Jumbo Operator, including de‑rigging, re‑rigging and loading bolts on the boom as required
- Installing ground support per design using MDX, PAR1 resin, split sets and Posimix bolts (training provided)
- Reading and understanding primary development designs and survey memos once trained
- Supporting all aspects of development mining including levels, declines, inclines and turnouts
- Achieving line, grade and overbreak targets once competent (<10% overbreak)
- Operating heavy diesel equipment for cleaning and support activities
- Completing pre‑start inspections and reporting defects or hazards
- Maintaining housekeeping standards and complying with all safety controls
- Participating in hazard identification, reporting and statutory safety requirements
About you
We are looking for people who bring the following attributes, skills and experience:
- Previous underground mining experience
- Charge‑up and bogging experience
- Competency in development charge‑up, bogger operations and mine services work
- Understanding of ground support installation and the development mining cycle
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence and relevant underground competencies (QSEC Card, Working at Heights, vent/reticulation)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work safely in a team environment
- High level of manual dexterity, observation and mechanical aptitude
