Your new role
Hays is partnering with a well‑established organisation in Perth to engage an experienced Data Analyst (Health & Safety) on an initial 6–12-month contract. This role will support a Systems Lead across a range of operational improvement initiatives and safety‑related projects.
Reporting to the Systems Lead, the Data Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining dashboards, analysing health and safety data, and supporting decision‑making through accurate and timely insights.
Key responsibilities include:
Dashboard Development & Reporting
Design, build and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards tracking health and safety KPIs (incident rates, near misses, safety audits, compliance metrics).
Data Analysis & Insights Analyse trends, identify risks and root causes, and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
SQL Querying & Data Management Develop and maintain SQL queries, views, stored procedures and data pipelines to support analytics and reporting.
Health & Safety Compliance Reporting Produce monthly, quarterly and annual H&S performance reports aligned with regulatory and internal standards.
Data Integrity & Governance Conduct regular data quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency and completeness.
Process Improvement & Automation Improve reporting efficiency by automating recurring reports and refining data processes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary qualification in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated years’ of experience in a data analytics or reporting role.
- Strong technical capability, including:
- SQL – writing queries, views and stored procedures
- Power BI – dashboard development, DAX measures, data modelling
- Excel – advanced formulas, pivot tables and analysis
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Desirable (but not essential): Exposure to health and safety data or metrics, such as TRIFR, LTIFR, near misses and safety observations.
