About the Role

We are currently seeking applications from interested and appropriately qualified individuals to join our multi skilled and engaging team. The Specialist Indigenous Support will help shape Copper South Australia's future as a culturally and socially responsible organisation that is respectfully engaged with its Indigenous workforce.

The purpose of this role is to support and connect with Indigenous employees and their leaders, to help strengthen retention and wellbeing and create a culturally safe working environment.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Continuously develop and implement our effective, culturally appropriate support and engagement program across our Copper South Australia sites including, Prominent Hill, Carrapateena and Olympic Dam.
  • Support leaders to understand Indigenous employees cultural and social norms and experiences.
  • Provide individualised and personalised employment related support, including mentoring, coaching, support planning and case management.
  • Lead initiatives to support the retention and wellbeing of our Indigenous employees to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Promote Indigenous cultural awareness coaching and mentoring sessions for key personnel in leadership roles with responsibility for contributing to the goal of development and retention of Indigenous staff.
  • Establish and maintain links with associated and relevant Indigenous support agencies.
  • Partner with the operations to identify and promote development opportunities for Indigenous employees across the business.
  • Conduct regular Audits and report on development, challenges and opportunities, while ensuring confidentiality of employee details.

About You

  • Experience mentoring, coaching and providing case management and support to Indigenous employees
  • Experience working within the mining industry (desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with site leaders and networks within a business or organisation
  • The ability to contribute as a team player and work independently to achieve the desired accountabilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Indigenous challenges and barriers that impact Indigenous people seeking and maintaining employment
  • Skills and experience in problem solving and conflict resolution and the ability to demonstrate where these have supported business development in previous roles
  • Experience in planning and coordinating structured programs and activities for diverse groups and reporting on outcomes and impact
  • Ability to work in a complex and changing environment
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written) skills
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of Indigenous culture
  • Experience working with Indigenous people
  • Case management and support planning experience
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills (desired)
  • Ability to influence change
