About the role

The Graduate Risk/Safety position at Evolution Mining is designed to provide practical experience in a mining environment. This role, part of the broader Sustainability Team, allows graduates to engage in a variety of activities aimed at building expertise in risk and safety management within the mining industry.

The following is a general guide to the types of roles and responsibilities the graduate may undertake:

  • Source data, undertake analysis, and prepare professional documents and reports.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including assurance and critical control verifications, and influence proactive safety behaviours through visible leadership.
  • Participate in site and other forums to share lessons learned and deliver key risk management messages.
  • Facilitate risk register reviews, risk assessments at multiple levels, and the development of critical control tools and activities as needed.
  • Assist in developing plans to ensure site compliance with Evolution's policies and standards.
  • Assist with incident investigations and analysis, aiming for a zero-repeat outcome.
  • Participate in risk and safety initiatives to continuously improve work practices and promote positive change.
  • Support the maintenance and monitoring of access, training management, and learning systems based on competency-based requirements.

About you

The successful candidate will report to the Safety/Risk Superintendent and will be expected to bring a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and certificates:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, demonstrating a solid foundation in the principles of safety and risk management.
  • A manual driver’s license or the ability to obtain one before starting the Graduate program, ensuring mobility and flexibility on-site.
  • Strong academic performance in courses related to risk management, safety, and environmental health, paired with a genuine passion for fostering a safe and supportive work environment.
  • Membership with a professional organization such as the Australian Institute of Health & Safety is highly desirable, showcasing dedication to professional growth and networking in the industry.
  • Any relevant certifications or training in safety systems or risk management (such as first aid, safety leadership, or incident investigation) will be an asset.

This program is designed for driven and ambitious graduates looking to build a strong foundation in Environment within the mining industry. By developing key technical, analytical, and leadership skills, participants will gain valuable experience and contribute to Evolution Mining’s continued success.
