Job Description

About the Role

This is a senior commercial leadership role within Alcoa’s Capital Program—critical to sustaining and growing current operations and improving competitiveness into the future. As Senior Commercial Contracts Manager – Projects, you will be accountable for the commercial contract performance of Alcoa’s largest Engineering and Construction contracts across the Australian and Global capital portfolio, optimising outcomes, reducing risk exposure and ensuring alignment to project outcomes and business objectives.

Reporting to the Director – Global Capital Procurement, you will lead the commercial contract performance of major Engineering & Construction contracts across a global capital portfolio exceeding ~ $800M annually, with a multi-year pipeline of ~ $6B Total Installed Cost. This role offers the opportunity to influence high-value EPC/EPCM/D&C contracts, lead complex negotiations, and advise senior executives on strategy, risk and value creation.

The role will act as the single point of accountability to the Director Global Capital Procurement for commercial contract performance and excellence across the global capital program. Working closely with regional project teams and senior stakeholders in Capital Delivery, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Approvals, Asset Management, Legal and Risk, you will provide leadership across contracting strategy development, pre-award execution and post-award contract management, including claims and dispute resolution.

Your key focus and priorities will be:

  • Lead the commercial contract management lifecycle for large Engineering & Construction contracts across Alcoa’s global capital program.
  • Provide expert authority on contracting strategy, tender governance, negotiation, contract execution models and contract forms (e.g., EPC, EPCM, D&C).
  • Own and support high-value claims, variations, extensions of time and dispute resolution processes, protecting Alcoa’s commercial position.
  • Set governance, compliance and reporting standards (KPIs) to measure commercial performance, risk exposure and contract compliance.
  • Partner with Capital Delivery, Engineering, Legal, Risk, Finance and regional leaders to optimise outcomes across a diverse global portfolio.

What’s on offer

  • 18 weeks parental leave for primary caregivers.
  • Paid employee volunteering hours within our community.
  • Access to training designed for senior executives.
  • Competitive short-term and long-term performance-based rewards.
  • Flexible arrangements that support work-life integration at the executive level.

What you can bring to the role

  • 12–15+ years’ experience in procurement/contracting, including major CAPEX projects in mining, refining or heavy industry.
  • Proven leadership of international, cross-cultural teams and the ability to build capability and consistent global ways of working.
  • Deep expertise in engineering and construction contracting and execution strategies (EPC/EPCM/D&C) across the full contract lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex negotiations, claims management and dispute resolution on high-value contracts.
  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder influence, with the ability to advise senior leaders on risk, governance and value outcomes.
