Environment Superintendent

About the role:
Hays is currently seeking an experienced Environment Superintendent to join a site-based team on an 8:6 roster. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the environmental activities on site relevant to compliance with regulatory requirements and the maintenance of environmental management systems and processes for continual improvement in environmental performance.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Providing expert environmental advice to site leadership.
• Developing and implementing environmental improvement strategies.
• Develop budget and forecast plans to achieve key business objectives.
• Managing environmental projects.
• Participating in environmental audits and assessments.
• Building relationships with key stakeholders.
• Providing leadership and mentorship in environmental management.
• Managing 3–5 direct reports.

What you'll need to succeed:

• A strong commitment to safety.
• Quality communication skills at relevant levels of the business.
• A broad understanding of mining disciplines including exploration, mining, processing, and maintenance activities.
• At least 10 years' site-based operational experience at a senior level.
• A tertiary qualification in environmental science, or equivalent industry experience.
• Knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements, hazard, and risk management.
• A high level of attention to detail and the ability to interpret and manage environmental data to inform decision-making.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug/Alcohol screening.
• Manual Driving Licence.
• Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory).
