Civmec is delivering key scopes across Fortescue’s flagship Green Iron Project near Christmas Creek in the Pilbara— a globally significant project focused on decarbonising steel production through hydrogen technology. We are seeking experienced SMP Engineers specialising in mechanical & piping to join the team to support the delivery of this ground-breaking project.

This opportunity will provide exposure to an exciting scope of works alongside a solid team and supportive leadership focused on delivering a quality project safely.

The Role

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in managing the scope of works to drive execution across construction, quality, and commercial functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Align SMP construction activities with project schedules and specifications
• Liaising with key stakeholders to resolve technical queries and ensure alignment
• Providing detailed reporting to monitor progress
• Manage technical deviation requests and maintain the technical query register
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all works
• Conduct inspections to verify quality and readiness for testing and commissioning
• Identify and mitigate risk and non-conformances through proactive problem-solving
• Assist with material take-offs, procurement tracking, and delivery coordination
• Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety reviews to promote a strong safety culture
• Collaborating with planning and commercial teams to support forecasting, cost control, and change management.

About You

• A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Proven experience delivering SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) scopes on major construction projects
• Strong technical knowledge across piping systems, steel structures, mechanical equipment installation, and modern construction methodologies
• Proficiency in MS Office and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar tools
