The Role

We are looking for an experienced Drill Operator to join our Mining Services – Drill & Blast team at our Whyalla, SA operations. This is a long-term project for SRG Global having been the drilling and blasting contractor onsite since 2012. This is a full-time residential position with client supplied transport daily from Whyalla. Roster is 7:7, day shift & night shift.

This role would ideally suit someone who has a positive attitude towards safety, training & environment. Good communication and organisational skills, with an emphasis on teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate hydraulic and pneumatic drill rigs as per OEM specifications.
• Complete drill holes to high QA standards according to client requirements.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and assist with major repairs.
• Service drill rigs, ancillary equipment, and operate service trucks and LVs.
• Maintain daily drill log data and conduct pre-start checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are upheld; monitor drilling consumables and record wear rates.

The successful applicant will have:

• C Class Drivers Licence (Manual)
• A working knowledge of Sandvik and Atlas D65 Rigs
• Good communication and organisational skills, with an emphasis on teamwork
• A positive attitude towards safety, training & environment
• Pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol assessment

Desirables

• Heavy Rigid (HR) Drivers Licence
• Certificate III In Drilling Operations
• Mechanical aptitude
• Shot Crew experience
