Position: Community Advisor

Roster: 5/2, 4/3 (9-hour days)

Location: KCGM, Kalgoorlie residential

Here’s what awaits you:

Reporting to the Community Manager, the Community Advisor plays a pivotal role in delivering Northern Star’s Community Strategy across the Kalgoorlie Production Centre. This position is central to fostering strong community relationships and enhancing the company’s reputation through engagement, impact management and communications.

The primary focus of the role is to engage with the local community and other key stakeholders on operational activities, overseeing the effective management of the external complaints and grievances process and support community investment activities. The Community Advisor is also responsible for contributing to social impact management across the Kalgoorlie Production Centre.

A critical aspect of this role is maintaining clear, consistent, and impactful external communication while cultivating trust-based relationships with community investment partners, residents, and regional organisations.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Experience:

  • Proven experience in communications, community relations and/or stakeholder engagement, and experience with community investment, ideally in the resource sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and tailor messaging for varied audiences.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the capacity to deliver practical, business-aligned solutions across departments.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritise and organise concurrent projects under tight time pressures.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with confidentiality and respect.
  • High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Adobe and the Microsoft office suite. Adaptability to evolving procedures, systems, and operational improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate Degree in Communications, Social Sciences or related field.
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
