Your new role

As the Commercial Finance Manager, you will serve as the senior leader overseeing the organisation’s full financial and commercial performance. Operating within a Queensland Government statutory body, you will provide expert guidance across strategic, operational, and compliance-driven financial activities while leading a high ‑performing finance team. You will be responsible for:

• Providing strategic financial and commercial advice to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board.
• Leading all aspects of the Commercial Finance Function, including budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and internal controls.
• Overseeing commercial pricing practices, modelling, tariff methodologies, reconciliation activities, and strategic customer pricing.
• Managing customer contracts, renewals, due diligence processes, and supporting the identification of commercial growth opportunities.
• Leading asset accounting activities, including depreciation, revaluations, capitalisation, disposals, and oversight of asset registers in accordance with Queensland Government policy.
• Directing treasury management functions such as cash flow forecasting, liquidity oversight, bank account management, and cash management processes.
• Driving continuous improvement, digital transformation, and optimisation of financial systems, policies, processes, and governance frameworks.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of finance professionals, fostering a capability-focused and high ‑performance culture.
• Ensuring full compliance with statutory, regulatory, workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

• Demonstrated experience in senior financial management and leading high ‑performing finance teams.
• Proven ability to identify, evaluate and recommend strategic business growth opportunities, including customer growth strategies and revenue modelling.
• Extensive management accounting expertise, with a track record of providing commercial and financial insights on complex matters such as asset accounting, impairment, valuations, and infrastructure pricing.
• Strong asset accounting capability, including managing large asset bases, coordinating valuations, and maintaining strategic asset registers.
• Highly developed analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Strong capability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop, mentor, and support finance professionals.
