Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

PurposeReporting to the Development Supervisor, as a Development Charge-Up team member, you will play an essential role in executing blasting operations. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Charge-Up machines, loading explosives into designated development faces and stope holes, and carrying out blasting tasks in alignment with detailed drill plans. This position forms part of a high-performing crew committed to safety, accuracy, and operational excellence.
As part of our team, you will,
- Be a skilled and safety-focused professional, with experience in an underground operations.
- Charge development faces with explosives in line with plans and specifications
- Coordinate charging and firing activities with the Underground Supervisor
- Accurately record daily activities and work completed
- Safely store, handle, and transport explosives
- Comply with all safety standards before, during, and after each task
- Conduct thorough pre-start equipment checks and workplace inspections
Prerequisites for your success in this role,
- Have proven experience in a similar underground role
- Are skilled and efficient in operating Charge-Up machines and Integrated Tool Carriers
- Understand ground support techniques and core ground support theory
- Have experience with Hypercharge and Emulsion (highly desirable)
- Development Bogging experience (desirable)
- Hold relevant shotfiring license (desirable)
- Are mask fit ready to meet underground compliance standards
Your work environment,
This FIFO role operates on a 2:2 roster—7 days day shift, 7 days night shift, followed by 14 days off and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village.
