About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated Design Engineer – Structures to develop safe, efficient and innovative design solutions that support our shoring, propping and structural product range across major construction and infrastructure projects. In this role, based at our Ingleburn office, you’ll work closely with both customers and internal stakeholders — designing solutions, interpreting technical requirements, and providing the engineering insight needed to deliver safe, compliant and high-performing temporary works. You’ll also play an important part in improving our product range and staying ahead of emerging industry technologies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and promoting our Safety First culture across every design, decision and interaction.
- Responding to customer and internal enquiries by developing practical, cost-effective engineered solutions using our shoring, propping and structural systems.
- Collaborating with field teams and clients to gather the right information and ensure your designs are accurate, safe and fit-for-purpose.
- Providing technical data, drawings and documentation to help customers make informed decisions and understand how our products support their project.
- Identifying opportunities to improve product performance and engineering service quality, contributing to continual improvement of our solutions.
- Keeping up to date with the latest engineering methods, standards, technologies and software to ensure we remain at the forefront of industry practice.
- Coaching and supporting internal teams and customers to build understanding of our products, capabilities and design principles.
- Attending site meetings and providing on-site support to ensure safe and effective use of our structural solutions.
What you’ll get in return
We provide our team with a wide range of perks and benefits, including:
- Development and career progression pathways
- Access to our employee discounts, benefits and wellbeing program
- Purchased additional leave program
- Novated leasing and salary sacrifice
- 12 weeks Paid Parental Leave in addition to government parental leave scheme
- Volunteering opportunities through the Coates Foundation
What you’ll bring to the role
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (minimum).
- Around 1–2 years’ experience in an engineering office or similar environment.
- Knowledge in design and drafting tools (Spacegass & AutoCAD)
- Strong communication skills, able to work effectively with customers, field teams and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- Solid understanding of structural, civil or geotechnical construction methods.
- Strong solution design capability and customer-focused problem-solving approach.
- Advanced knowledge of Australian Standards and other relevant codes.
- Understanding of Safety in Design principles, regulatory requirements and best practice.
