With several upcoming metropolitan infrastructure projects, NRW is experiencing continued growth and is seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to support our project delivery teams.
We are seeking a highly capable Sustainability Manager to lead and embed sustainability initiatives across the full lifecycle of civil infrastructure projects. This role will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure sustainability objectives are integrated into planning, design, construction, and delivery, while driving compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
To be considered for this position as a Sustainability Manager you will possess the following:
- Demonstrated experience in sustainability, environmental management or infrastructure project delivery
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering or a related discipline (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of WA environmental legislation, approvals processes, and sustainability frameworks (e.g. IS Rating Scheme)
- Proven ability to integrate sustainability outcomes across planning, design, and construction phases
- Experience managing environmental and social risks including biodiversity, heritage, and community impacts
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with contractors, regulators, and Traditional Owners
- Excellent communication, reporting, and analytical skills
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
As a Sustainability Manager, you will support NRW’s commitment to responsible project delivery and be responsible for but not limited to:
- Embedding sustainability objectives into project planning, design, procurement, and construction in line with client and regulatory requirements
- Supporting lifecycle, circular economy, and resource efficiency initiatives across infrastructure projects
- Overseeing environmental approvals, sustainability plans, and performance reporting
- Managing sustainability risks including biodiversity, heritage, carbon, water, waste, and community impacts
- Ensuring compliance with MRWA specifications, WA legislation, and relevant sustainability standards
- Providing sustainability advice to project teams and contractors, ensuring tracking and reporting against targets
- Supporting engagement with regulators, Traditional Owners, and key stakeholders
- Tracking sustainability KPIs and preparing reporting for project, corporate, and government requirements
- Contributing to audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
