About the Role

We are seeking a forward thinking and talented professional to take on the key role of Project Superintendent for South Flank within our Engineering department. This is an exciting opportunity for a high performing contributor to work with a range of senior stakeholders where your contribution will have a significant impact on the business.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager for Project Mines, you will be responsible for the safe delivery of projects across all phases and providing leadership to a skilled and diverse team of Project Managers.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Guide and support a team of Project Managers that deliver projects for the South Flank mining operation
  • Champion the safe planning and execution of capital projects within the portfolio, ensuring full compliance with site safety standards and statutory obligations
  • Foster visible safety leadership, promoting a culture of zero harm and active field engagement
  • Coordinate end-to-end project delivery (scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk) in alignment with approved Investment Approval Requests (IARs)
  • Work closely with contractors to support safe, timely delivery to agreed standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, design management, operations, and external vendors
  • Ensure effective risk identification, mitigation, and control throughout all project phases
  • Maintain strong governance and reporting, including progress tracking, forecasting, and executive updates
  • Drive schedule adherence and proactively manage delays, constraints, and critical path activities
  • Ensure compliance with BHP / site-specific standards, procedures, and systems (e.g., BOS, risk frameworks)
  • Support development of project scopes, cost estimates, and execution strategies during early project phases
  • Manage project budgets and cost control, including tracking commitments, forecasting, and variance management
  • Foster strong stakeholder engagement with operations to minimise disruption and ensure operational readiness
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across project delivery practices
  • Mentor and support project managers to build team capability and individual professional development

About You

  • Proven experience delivering capital or sustaining projects in mining or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of project management principles (scope, schedule, cost, risk)
  • Demonstrated contractor management and site execution experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong commercial and cost management acumen
  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (preferred)

Location

This role is based at South Flank on a 5/2/4/3 Fly in Fly out roster from Perth.
