About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

Who we’re looking for
The Network Engineer will bring a strong hands-on approach, comfortable working both in the field and in technical design activities, working closely with team members and cross‑functional groups to design and deliver technical solutions, support ongoing maintenance and new network implementations, monitor usage to drive optimisation, facilitate internal audits with partner teams, and ensure outcomes are delivered to the appropriate stakeholders.
You will bring a strong understanding of LAN, WAN, cellular technology, and WiFi technologies, along with experience in network infrastructure planning, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.
Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the delivery of network projects that align with broader organisational objectives.
A strong understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks (including data protection and industry security standards) is required to ensure network operations meet legal and organisational requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is required, as you will be responsible for reporting, performance tracking, and presenting insights to key stakeholders.
You will also play a critical role in conducting network audits, reviews, and testing to maintain optimal performance and security, while ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of network configurations, changes, and upgrades. Experience working with vendors and contractors to implement and maintain network infrastructure is highly regarded.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to implement and maintain network solutions, including LAN, WAN, Microwave, Private Cellular, and WiFi.
- Support the planning, execution, and maintenance of network upgrades and new implementations to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
- Continuously monitor network usage and performance, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvements.
- Assist in conducting internal audits, reviews, and testing to ensure network reliability and compliance with standards.
- Offer technical support for network-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems efficiently to minimise downtime.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and upgrades to ensure accurate records.
- Work with vendors and contractors to support network implementations, maintenance, and issue resolution, ensuring they meet performance standards and contractual obligations.
- Implement and maintain security measures and protocols to protect network integrity and data from vulnerabilities and threats.
- Support the planning and execution of network projects, ensuring alignment with site priorities and operational needs.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of network security principles as well as strong skills in implementing and maintaining network security measures and protocols.
You will also bring the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/ Computer Science or a related field.
- Demonstrated progressive experience in a similar role
- High level of proficiency in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, Microwave, Private Cellular, and WiFi networks.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols including IP, TCP/UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, VLANs, OSPF, and common network security protocols.
- Strong technical support and troubleshooting abilities for network-related issues.
- Advanced skills in network performance monitoring and optimization.
Addtional desirable experience and qualifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or working towards certification.
- Demonstrated experience in structured cabling design, installation, and remediation (including fibre and copper).
- Experience working in large-scale or industrial environments (e.g. mining, utilities, or critical infrastructure).
This is a residential, Monday to Friday role offering a 9‑day fortnight option. Unrestricted Australian working rights are essential.
