About BHP - Jansen

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.
Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. To find out more about Potash and the Jansen project, click here.

Work Location

Downtown, Saskatoon office, with frequent travel to Jansen Mine Site (minimum 2 days/week).  This role is Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.  Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations, and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.
BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.

Purpose

Reporting to Lead Contract Management this position will support the Jansen Maintenance team in the establishment, mobilization and ongoing performance management of all operational contracts.

About the Role

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Monitor performance of contract partners against contract scope and KPIs
  • Support internal stakeholders on sourcing, engagement and performance management of contact partners
  • Facilitate key meetings, such as pre-mobilization, safety performance, contract performance, disputes and close out.
  • Support the development of work scopes and maintain risk assessments, and other contractor management documentation in conjunction with stakeholders
  • Identify and execute process improvements to drive cost and productivity gains within the contract scope
  • Create, maintain and manage purchase requisitions to ensure process compliance and processing efficiency.
  • Manage contractor mobilization, demobilization and associated change management
  • Review and facilitate timely submission of service entry sheets and invoices.
  • Identify vendors for review and work with Procurement to explore alternative options.
  • Maintain accurate cost data in the portfolio management system
  • Advise and support quality commercial opportunities and enable timely updates to cost, schedule and budget.
  • Provide inputs to support accruals and training to project owners on relevant reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Contract Management standards across all activities.
  • Manage vendor master data requests and onboard new vendors
  • Attend site meetings and report/resolve issues when required and attend contractor daily toolbox talks.

About You

  • Proven ability to assess, manage and advise on contract related risks, ensuring safety and compliance across contractor operations.
  • Previous experience in stakeholder management including advisement on best practices for contractor sourcing, engagement, performance and risk management.
  • Proven experience in contractor management and/or project management within mining or similar industries
  • Tertiary qualifications are beneficial (contractor management, procurement, business, law) or similar with experience within mineral resources industry
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business planning/administration, finance, management control or contract management roles or related field.
