Underground Mining Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced visionary Underground Mining Manager who can take our Underground Team to the next level. This is a role for a leader who can put safety first whilst setting clear direction and drive performance through building a strong culture with disciplined execution.

This role provides strategic leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of underground production, while developing a high‑performing and accountable leadership team that delivers to support the site success. It brings together strategic influence, operational oversight, and people leadership requiring an individual who excels across all three.

In this high‑impact role, you will:

• Lead with purpose - Define a clear, inspiring departmental vision and strategy and ensure every person understands their role in delivering it.
• Drive operational excellence - Oversee the reliable execution of budgeted production, embed effective systems, and maintain high standards of work quality.
• Champion a proactive safety culture - Create an environment where people freely report hazards, raise concerns, and contribute to a safer, stronger workplace.
• Build and develop a high‑performing team - Mentor and uplift Superintendents and crews skills, strengthening leadership depth, engagement, and accountability
• Accelerate improvement and innovation - Identify breakthrough opportunities, sponsor improvement projects, and embed changes that drive measurable gains in safety, cost, and productivity.
• Strengthen cross‑functional alignment - Partner effectively with all departments across site to deliver cohesive, site‑wide success.

About you

We’re looking for a bold, strategic, and people‑centric leader to take charge of our Underground Mining Department and elevate it to peak performance. As the Underground Mining Manager, you’ll own the vision, set the pace, and drive the delivery of safe, consistent, high‑quality production. Your leadership will shape culture, sharpen performance, and ensure we’re geared for long‑term success. You’re an energised, forward‑thinking mining leader who knows how to balance strategic direction with on‑the‑ground execution. You are confident, composed, and credible, someone who inspires trust, builds capability, and gets results through people.

You will bring:

• 10+ years’ underground mining leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior supervisory role.
• First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate (required)
• Extensive knowledge of underground operations, statutory legislation, and safety management systems.
• Proven success leading multidisciplinary underground teams with strong performance and compliance outcomes.
• Strong capability in planning, cost control, operational delivery and data‑driven decision‑making.
• High competence in Pronto, Word, Excel, and demonstrated strength in coaching, performance feedback, and developing leadership capability.
• C Class Manual Driver’s Licence.
