About Mt Magnet & Galaxy Underground

This is an opportunity to join Galaxy Underground at a pivotal point in its evolution. Mt Magnet is one of Ramelius’ cornerstone operations, bringing together underground, open pit and satellite mines with a long-term production outlook and significant opportunities for further growth. At its heart is Galaxy Underground, a high-grade operation where Mars and Saturn are mined using long-hole stoping. With mineralisation remaining open along strike and at depth, ongoing underground drilling is continuing to unlock further potential and extend the mine’s future.

About the Role

As Senior Planning Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Galaxy Underground. Working closely with Geology, Engineering, Operations and Technical Services, you’ll lead Life-of Mine and short-to-medium-term planning, translating geological information, exploration results and operational priorities into practical mining strategies. You’ll have the opportunity to influence mine design, sequencing, production strategy, economic evaluation and future development as the orebody continues to evolve.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead underground mine planning activities across operational and strategic timeframes
• Develop monthly, quarterly and Life-of-Mine forecasts and schedules
• Develop and assess mining strategies in collaboration with Geology and the Underground Manager
• Integrate drilling results, geological interpretation and block model updates into mine designs and sequencing
• Refine mining studies and future underground projects to execution readiness
• Prepare annual physicals and contribute to operational and capital budgeting
• Undertake economic analysis, including cut-off grades and scenario modelling
• Oversee primary ventilation designs and upgrade projects
• Work with specialist consultants on mine design and optimisation

About You

You’re an experienced Senior Planning Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and turning opportunities into executable mine plans. You’ll bring strong technical capability across underground mine planning, design, scheduling and economic evaluation, along with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams.

To excel in this role, you will need:

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
• Proven experience in underground mine planning, ideally within hard-rock gold mining
• Strong experience across Life-of-Mine strategy through to short-term scheduling
• High proficiency in mine planning and design software, ideally Deswik
• Strong understanding of underground mine design, development and production sequencing
• Experience with mining costs, cut-off grades and economic evaluation
• Sound knowledge of relevant mining legislation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• A proactive approach and passion for mentoring and developing others
• First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate is desirable but not essential
