The Checkers processing plant at Mt Magnet is currently undergoing a A$223M expansion and upgrade to an initial 4.3Mtpa capacity, with construction expected to be completed in the September 2027 quarter. The final plant configuration will be comprised of two separate crushing and grinding trains, enabling optimised recovery of ore from multiple ore sources.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Processing Manager is responsible for the leadership of the Processing, Maintenance and Minor Projects teams at Mount Magnet. The role is accountable for achieving production targets, optimising plant performance, and driving operational readiness across the department during a significant period of expansion, and into steady state operations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and develop high-performing Processing, Maintenance and Minor Projects teams to achieve safe and efficient operational outcomes.
- Ensure production is maintained throughout construction, commissioning and operational growth.
- Deliver throughput, recovery and cost targets in line with the site budget.
- Maximise plant availability.
- Drive a Proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all statutory, environmental and company requirements.
- Identify and implement initiatives to enhance operational performance, safety and costs.
- Manage departmental budgets and optimise the use of resources.
- Oversee maintenance planning and execution to support reliable plant and NPI.
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, performance management and team development.
- Foster effective collaboration across operational and site support functions.
- Drive effective change management.
- Provide accurate and timely operational reporting to support agile decision-making.
- Hold the statutory position of Senior Site Executive on a rotational basis
About You
You are a proven leader with significant gold processing experience and a track record of delivering results. You bring strong technical expertise, commercial acumen and a collaborative leadership style, with the ability to develop high-performing teams, drive continuous improvement and successfully lead through growth and change.
You will bring:
- Degree qualification in Metallurgy, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in gold processing operations, supported by a strong maintenance knowledge.
- Proven success in a senior leadership role within a mining operation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams in achieving operational targets.
- Strong focus on safety leadership and the delivery of safe production outcomes.
- Experience managing operational budgets and driving cost-effective performance.
- Ability to develop, coach and mentor teams while fostering a high-performance culture.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of the business.
- Proven capability in workload prioritisation, resource allocation and operational planning.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and business performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound operational decisions.
- High level of attention to detail, with strong reporting and analytical capabilities.
- Completion of the SSE and S26 Statutory qualification
