About the role
We are looking for a Principal Adviser – Training & Enablement to act as the 2IC to the Program Training Lead within Rio Tinto’s SAP S/4HANA (Modern ERP) program. Based in Brisbane, this role plays a critical leadership and coordination role as the program prepares for go‑live, where the business transitions to S/4HANA.
This is a senior advisory and execution‑shaping role. You will work closely with the Program Training Lead, stepping into conversations, taking ownership of complex enablement activities and ensuring training is designed, planned and delivered in a way that enables the business to be Day‑1 ready.

- Lead and coordinate Training Needs Analysis to define impacted audiences, readiness requirements and Day‑1 capability for the SAP S/4HANA go‑live
- Shape training insights into clear curricula, learning pathways and rollout strategies across Global Process Owners and regions
- Coordinate and prepare digital learning and eLearning assets, ensuring

What you’ll be doing
- Act as 2IC to the Program Training Lead, stepping into leadership conversations and taking accountability for complex training and enablement activities
- Lead and coordinate Training Needs Analysis to define impacted audiences, readiness requirements and Day‑1 capability for the SAP S/4HANA go‑live
- Shape training insights into clear curricula, learning pathways and rollout strategies across Global Process Owners and regions
- Coordinate and prepare digital learning and eLearning assets, ensuring readiness for deployment through Workday (LMS)
- Oversee the use learning tools to support detailed, role‑based system enablement
- Lead train‑the‑trainer preparation and rollout, supporting large‑scale delivery for ~300 trainers globally
- Work closely with regional training leads to plan delivery logistics, localisation and translation requirements
- Ensure all training and enablement outcomes reflect a strong Rio Tinto lens, aligned to change, adoption and business readiness
What you’ll bring
- Senior experience in Learning & Development, training or enablement leadership, ideally within large‑scale transformation programs
- Proven capability leading or coordinating Training Needs Analysis, curriculum planning and global rollout models
- Experience supporting ERP or SAP S/4HANA implementations, with a strong focus on adoption and readiness
- Ability to operate as a principal adviser and 2IC, confidently influencing leaders and stepping into complex discussions
- Strong stakeholder management skills across change teams, regional leads and system integrators
- Experience with enterprise learning platforms and enablement tools (e.g. Workday LMS, Enable Now or similar)
- Exposure to global delivery, localisation and translation approaches, balancing consistency with regional needs
