Mechanical Fitter

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Mechanical Fitter to work for our client based in Kurri Kurri.

Roster and Pay

• Day shift, Monday to Friday.
• 38 hours per week plus overtime.
• Flexible hours allow a choice of 4 x 10-hour shifts (one day off a week) or 5 x 8-hour shifts plus overtime.
• Ordinary time pay rate is $69/h.

Duties

• Repair underground mining equipment such as boggers (LHDs / Load Haul Dump machines), underground trucks, jumbo drills and bolters, long-hole drills and auxiliaries.
• Diagnose mechanical problems, finding and fixing faults with diesel engines, transmissions, gearboxes, differentials, brakes, steering systems and hydraulic components.
• Undertake component change-outs and overhauls, replacing or rebuilding worn engines, transmissions, torque converters, differentials, steering cylinders and pumps.
• Perform servicing and preventative maintenance, including changing oils and filters, checking fluid levels, inspecting components, replacing worn parts and completing scheduled services.
• Test machinery and record repairs before returning it to service.

Position Requirements

• Underground machinery experience is required.
• Trade qualification: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing underground diesel machinery (LHDs and auxiliary equipment).
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and diagnostic fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience undertaking component rebuilds and major mechanical overhauls.
• EXDes Code experience is highly desirable.
• Underground Diesel OEM experience is desirable.
• Licensed ExDEs Workshop or CP experience or RP experience is desirable.
