The Role & Project

Thiess is seeking an experienced Leading Hand HD Fitter to join our Gruyere Gold Mine Maintenance Team on a 2:1 roster. Some of the fleet you can expect to work on includes CAT 6060 Shovel, Sandvik DR410i, DI650i and DP 1500 / 1600 drills, Komatsu PC1250 and Liebherr 9600/9400/9200 excavators.

The Gold Fields Gruyere Gold Project is located within the Yamarna greenstone belt, approximately 200 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia. We are privileged to work on the lands of the Yilka people and operate in close consultation with their community.

The Thiess mining operation at Gruyere delivers load and haul, drill and blast, crushing and screening, as well as LV/HV maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Possess a positive leadership style, exceptional time-management skills and the ability to pivot around priorities while providing guidance, assistance and supervision to the maintenance team.
• Manage performance, planning, servicing, repair and preventative maintenance of heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Ensure work health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure all required paperwork is completed to a high standard by tradespeople.
• Be proactive in the workplace to ensure quality work is being completed.
• Comply with reasonable requests from the supervisor.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Possess

• Australian-recognised Trade Certificate (Mobile Plant Trade).
• HR Driver Licence.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working on open pit excavators.
• Strong problem-solving ability, including diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across various fleets and machinery.
• Experience in an open pit mining environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High motivation and the ability to work independently.
• A “Can Do” attitude to work and safety.
