Our client is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to join their team on a part-time basis to support the testing of raw materials and finished products across their manufacturing operations. Working closely with the Lab Supervisor and wider production teams, you will be responsible for carrying out accurate and timely testing, maintaining quality standards and ensuring all laboratory procedures are followed.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a practical environment and takes pride in accuracy, safety and attention to detail.
Located between two sites in Middle Swan and South Guilford, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Conduct testing of raw materials and finished products in accordance with Australian Standards and laboratory procedures
- Perform physical testing of bricks, pavers, blocks and roof tiles
- Test raw materials including particle size, pH, conductivity and other material properties
- Sample and safely transport products from manufacturing areas to the laboratory
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Complete pre-operational inspections of laboratory equipment
- Identify and immediately report results outside required specifications
- Report equipment concerns, non-conformances and safety issues to the Laboratory Supervisor
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment
- Provide additional testing and technical support to production, clay extraction and yard teams as required
- Work across different laboratory locations depending on operational requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:**
- Previous laboratory experience, ideally involving raw materials or destructive testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team
- Good computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
- A proactive approach and willingness to assist the wider team
- Experience with correct manual handling techniques
- A current C Class Driver's Licence
- Australian Permanent Residency with full working rights
- The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
Desirable
- Certificate III in Laboratory Technology or a similar qualification
- Experience within manufacturing, construction materials, building products or a similar testing environment
What's on Offer?
- Fixed-term contract through to April 2027
- Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm
- X3 days per week (22.8 hours per week)
- $41.80 per hour + super
