About the Role

The Carrapateena Mine Team is accountable for delivering value at the Asset in the short, medium and long term, against the needs of all stakeholders. With an immediate and core focus on delivery production outcomes, they have a secondary focus on leading the expansion of the mine by transitioning from a Sub Level Cave to a Block Cave – this will extend the Carrapateena mine life beyond 2039. At Carrapateena, we create a safe to fail environment where leaders support, trust and empower individuals to test our own thinking and question the status quo.

As a Geology Technician you will work closely with the Carrapateena Geology and Mining teams, as well as the wider Copper South Australia asset, including Mining Engineers, Survey, Geotechnical, Metallurgy, and Stores teams. The role also interfaces regularly with mining contractors, diamond drilling crews, and external suppliers, requiring effective collaboration and communication to support safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

Location: Carrapateena Mine

Roster: 8/6:7/7 Rotating roster FIFO ex Adelaide and Port Augusta

Term: Permanent Full Time

In this role, you will be responsible for working within a team of geologists and technicians to execute:

Underground geological sampling:

• Wall channel chip sampling
• Face grab sampling
• Production ring grab sampling
• Associated data entry with all above
• Daily and EOM stockpile inspections

Geological core yard operations:

• Core metre marking, and orientation
• Core SG measurements and cutting
• Creating drill core laboratory dispatches
• Geotechnical data capture – RQD, Fracture Frequency
• Geology stocktakes including core yard supplies and stores ordering
• As needed support and execution for grade control project tasks working with the mine Geologists
• Participation in department daily, weekly, safety meetings

About You

You will have:

• Manual drivers license (mandatory)
• High-Risk Forklift licence ideal
• Experience in an underground mining environment is preferable
• Understanding of underground development process is preferable
• Core yard Technician drill core processing exposure is preferable
• Ability to make confident and timely decisions when working under high-pressure situations
• Strong communication skills and proven ability to work in a team
• Demonstrated ability to deliver and drive safe practices
• High standard of work ethic and positive attitude with a growth mindset is required
• Computer skills, including exposure to Microsoft office
