Financial Analyst

MacKellar is looking for a commercially minded Financial Analyst to support operational performance through accurate reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and partnering with stakeholders to improve business performance.

We also welcome applications from Accountants looking to step into a more commercially focused role within FP&A or finance partnering. Mining industry experience is not required — we’re looking for someone with strong analytical capability, curiosity, and the drive to learn. Our team will support you in building industry knowledge and developing your career.

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver meaningful financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making.
• Prepare monthly reporting packs, performance insights, and variance commentary.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Monitor project performance, costs, and profitability across operations.
• Work closely with operational leaders to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across reporting systems and processes.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, financial controls, audit standards, and governance requirements.

About you

• Qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Working toward or interested in completing CA or CPA qualifications.
• Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to reporting or BI platforms viewed favourably.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
• Capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
