Senior Project Engineer

About the Role

Breight Group is looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer - SMP to join our growing team. Working closely with our tender and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in supporting the estimating, planning, coordination, and successful delivery of projects.

This role will see you involved in a variety of engineering and project activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will also be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors while contributing to continuous improvement across project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee engineering activities.
• Assist with project estimating, planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports for project stakeholders.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting.
• Support procurement activities including supplier and subcontractor coordination.
• Attend site meetings and liaise with supervisors, trades, and project teams.
• Ensure all works are carried out in line with safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
• Identify project risks and assist with developing solutions to mitigate potential issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across project processes and delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and development of their skills and experience.

About You

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline).
• Previous experience working in a Project Engineer role within construction, mining, or heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of project planning, cost control, and reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to build strong relationships with clients and project teams.
• Strong desire to mentor and shape the next generation of project engineers.
• High level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
• Commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture.
